Prayer Requests

Requests for intercessory prayer will be listed as they are received or as I become aware of them. Let me know so I can include any special requests you folks might have.

My God hears our every prayer and meets our every need.

21 Feb 08: Prayer request for Gary and Cindy Hogan

Gary is serving in Iraq while his young wife is fighting cancer here. Prayer is a powerful thing.

                    Bobby S. Briggs, MSgt, USAF
                    823 ESFS/SFOC
                    Flight Sergeant
                    BAGHDAD AB , IRAQ

My name is Gary Hogan. Some of you may know me, most of you do not. My wife, Cindy, is 32 years old and has just been  diagnosed 3 days ago  with stage 4 cervical cancer and her chances for survival are very slim.
She was pregnant with our second child and had miscarried  recently at 3 months, and now we know why. I am asking for prayer. The more people that pray for her to be healed, the better.

Your prayer can, and perhaps will, save her life. Please pray and ask everyone you know to pray  for the HEALING of Cindy and the removal of all cancer in her body, so she may enjoy all that life has to offer, and to continue to be  the wonderful mother to our 5 year old son, Michael.

The power of  Prayer is unsurpassed. I want the whole world to have her in their  prayers the next few weeks. I am sure God will hear our cry. Please do not be offended by my plea. It is only a request for your help.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and helping with this request for healing! No words can express the power we have when we each do a little to come together in prayer.

Regards, Cindy's in-love husband - Gary

There you have it Warriors, can we answer the challenge?

1. Lt Sheri Hall of the Lee County MS SO still needs to be uplifted in prayer for healing and rehabilitation, after suffering a stroke. She has returned to light duty but at last report was in therapy for a while but should recover and then be able to control her condition. Sheri was at the NASRO Conference this summer so that is a praise. I have contacted her to get a new report. (Sept, 2007)

I received this report on 21 Sept 2007 fro Lt. Sheri Hall

Hey there! It is so good to hear from you. I was at the NASRO conference for only a couple of days and ended up leaving – we didn’t even register. The hot weather just works against me even more ………. Plus my brain says “go” but my body says “no”. ha

However, I am doing tons better! I am in physical therapy again 3 times a week and working out the other two days. I feel better now than I have since the stroke! There are times I forget I have even had a stroke!!! My walking is much better – Still no feeling (hot / cold/ paid) on my left side. This is only an inconvenience and I am getting very used to it…………Doctor says it my brain may “reconnect” in another place and it come back and it may not. No big deal to me. I am just thinking about how blessed I am! We had a guy at work pass away a couple of weeks ago from a brain tumor – again, made me realize that there are many that are far worse off than I am so I have no complaints.

I am back at work full-time but still light-duty, which basically means desk in a nutshell. My neurologist feels that Jan. 1 is a far estimation date for returning to uniform. I am going to begin my DARE classes in November (only three days a week – M, W & F) in soft uniform……………………So pray everything goes well……………..

Thank you again for caring!

Hope you are all doing well.

Here is a request I received on 10 July 2007:

This prayer request came from a friend of mine and former LT in KY, Tim Chesser.

The young son of a friend of his was injured by a bungee cord, which struck him in the eye. The father Ben is a Christian. He is also a Sergeant with the Kenton County (KY) Police Department.

Ben's son BJ will be having surgery on Monday, August 6th.
The inner pupil muscles of the eye are definitely torn. Dr.'s are still unsure if the outer pupil muscles are torn, if they are, at least a portion, if not all, of the pupil
will have to be sewn at the point where the normal pupil would be when a 'normal' amount of light is hitting it.
BJ will be unable to read using the damaged eye but he will be able to see fine at a distance.

If the pupil is not damaged too badly, they can insert a multi-focal point lens that will allow him to see both near and far. He will also be able to read with his damaged eye if this is the case. The only down side is that insurance will not cover it.

Please pray that his pupil is not so badly damaged that he cannot get the multi-focal point lens so that he can read with both eyes.

Please pray for the Parents of Larimer County Sheriff Deputy Darren Brand

Melvin and Peggy Brand. Please pray for God's will and healing hand on Melvin Brand (has Colan Cancer) & Peggy Brand (has Parkinson's).

Lt. Tom Barkdoll, PA State Police has asked for prayer for Paul Karchner, retired from the PA State Police and past president of the Fellowship of Christian Police Officers Adams County Chapter (PA), who is dying of leukemia. He is under hospice care. Please pray for Paul, his family and that Christ will be honored.

Pray for 64 year Old Alabama SRO John Thomas, who was attacked by two brothers he was escorting to the school office. He spent two days in the hospital as a result and is experiencing effects from the attack as well facing surgery for a brain tumor located while he was in the hospital. you can mail him a card at the following address:
John Thomas
901 12th Avenue
Midfield, Alabama 35228

Update on Officer John Thomas: He is a Midfield School Resource Officer this morning October 4th, He said he was feeling weak, but in good spirits. On Friday, October 5th, his wife had to call paramedics to his home because he had a severe seizure, evidently due to the tumor on his brain. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow, October 9th at UAB West in Bessemer. No date has been set as of yet to check on the blood clot in his neck that he got as a result of his attack in September. He also said that he has been receiving cards and letters from all over the country from well wishers, and that they have really meant a lot to him, and made him feel better

Update: John is recovering from the surgery that they performed on Tuesday. He stated that the doctor’s have told him that they removed all of the brain tumor. He stated that he had an episode last night at the hospital and he has no idea when he may be released from the hospital. It will be sometime after this surgery before they attempt to deal with the blood clot that he has which was a result of the attack on him by two students. He wanted to tell everyone thank you from across the country that have kept him in their prayers and that have sent him letters of encouragement.

I recently met a  deputy from SC who asked for special prayer for a detrimental habit he had developed. He has taken direct action to conquer this problem and has laid it on the altar. Lets all hold him and his family up in prayer as he takes a stand against Satan. He is a good officer ans simply needs the support of some other Christian LEO's and their families. God knows just what this man needs.

I also met an officer from Ga who has requested prayer for strength, peace and wisdom in dealing with the innate pressures of our profession. The trials that a Christian officer often faces are often even more troubling because of his or her faith. These two new requests are symbolic of the many others that exist out there among you all. I know from experience that we LEO's never have problems... that is right up until we break. I pray that many of you towers of strength will seek God's help before you ever approach that point.

From: Tim Chesser
To: Mike Dye, Chaplain Ray & My Brother Christian Peace Officers.

Please pray for a friend who crashed his police cruiser this morning on an icy road. He was taking his 14 year old daughter to school and slid off the roadway, down an embankment, struck two trees, and overturned. She is in very serious condition and according to an officer on the scene, it looked like she might not make it. She was trapped and unconscious. Because of the bad weather, she could not be airlifted.
Her name is Elizabeth Bailey. Her dad, Ed Bailey, is a Captain with the Independence (KY) Police Department. Our schools were on a 2 hour delay because of snow.

I will keep you posted on what is happening in our area and when you find the time keep my future efforts on God's behalf in your prayers.

Your Brother in Christ,

Update: Tim tells me she is doing better, Thanks for the prayers. God is greater than anything we or the devil can throw at Him.
