Why I Do What I Do? |

It seems so rare to ever find out the impact God has on lives when we allow Him to work through us. Especially when, like I do , we allow him to dispatch us through the "known world". Many folks think that there is only a foreign mission field. I am learning and having reinforced daily that the good old USA has many folks that are in need of just plain Christian Compassion as well.

Good Morning Colonel,
It has been several months since I last emailed you. I
apologize for this, but I have been very busy the last couple of months. My
company paid for me to get my PHR certificate with the understanding that if I
failed I would be responsible of reimbursing the company the one thousand dollars
they paid. I really couldn’t afford to fail. Glory to God I passed the
test just over two weeks ago.

The following was received from an officer I met at the National Crime Prevention Conference in Washington DC recently.
I was packing up my exhibit and took time to unpack and find Tim a CLEF
pin which I gave to him as we sat and shared testimonies and talked for
about an hour or so about how the Holy Spirit was using us in law
enforcement and how difficult it can be to live up to the expectations
of many of those folks we serve and with whom we serve. We talked about
some of the disappointments and difficulties we were experiencing in
our loves or careers and tried to encourage each other.
I want you to notice how the smallest things in life like just
listening and talking with someone you meet during your "busy" day can
have an unexpected impact on their lives and therefore on your own.
I often wonder if I am really doing what the Holy Spirit wants me to do
and I used to spend (or waste) time worrying about it. When I finally
realized that all I needed to do was be available to be a part of a
solution and not the entire answer, I was able to more easily recognize
the many "windows of opportunity" that I had been passing by each day
while looking for and asking God to open for me some "doors of
opportunity". I finally heard Him say "are you SWAT or not". So don't
be slow like me on the up-take. When a window of opportunity opens,
make a SWAT entry and when you do the Holy Spirit will use you to make
an impact in some way I am positive.

Emery Esse, one of the original SRT members of the Detroit PD offers his comments. I knew him after he retired from DPD
SRT. He is now a Law enforcement instructor and Missionary with MMI, an
organization I will soon have a link to under Web links.
Emery Has quite a testimony, I'll see if I can get him to write it out for us sometime soon.

Some comments from a fellow worker in both the fields of the Lord and the mean streets of Florida and California ,Mike Dye, who was a Sgt on a FL Sheriff's Office while I was down there as a Sgt
on another Sheriff's Office and then He left to become a U.S. Deputy
Marshal in California. He is now back in FL as a deputy sheriff once
again but He brings 20 years of experience back to the streets as well
as his Christian Witness
Ray
You and I know that there are way too many "Christian" organizations
out there that are not really doing God's work and never will be
because of their own selfish desires and corporate needs.
I believe that God has His hand in everything that is going on in the
world right now. He will keep His hand on our ministries as long as we
remain humble and stay focused on the goal He set before us in
Matthew 28: 19-20.
I have added a link to your website on my own, just as you have added
my link to your links page. Thank you again for being out there to give
me a "Ray of Hope" that not all Christian Chaplains have forgotten
about "making disciples and planting the seeds."
Be Blessed
Mike Dye
