Some comments from a fellow worker in both the fields of the Lord and the mean streets of Florida and California ,Mike Dye, who was a Sgt on a FL Sheriff's Office while I was down there as a Sgt on another Sheriff's Office and then He left to become a U.S. Deputy Marshal in California. He is now back in FL as a deputy sheriff once again but He brings 20 years of experience back to the streets as well as his Christian Witness

Ray

You and I know that there are way too many "Christian" organizations out there that are not really doing God's work and never will be because of their own selfish desires and corporate needs.

I believe that God has His hand in everything that is going on in the world right now. He will keep His hand on our ministries as long as we remain humble and stay focused on the goal He set before us in Matthew 28: 19-20.

I have added a link to your website on my own, just as you have added my link to your links page. Thank you again for being out there to give me a "Ray of Hope" that not all Christian Chaplains have forgotten about "making disciples and planting the seeds."

Be Blessed

2007 Toys For Tots Wrap Up And Plans For 2008 Print E-mail

Well it has been a few weeks since I wrote anything because I have been operating on empty each night. My wife found me so useless while I was working on our local Toys For Tots campaign (16 county AOR) that she found time to visit our daughter in Texas. They only had a couple of days together but my sister-in-law was able to meet my wife down there and they had a great week of prayer and renovation, while I put a great deal of time in trying to be sure that many children who would not have had anything for Christmas got something under their tree.
As I went about in this season of giving, I became even more aware that God cannot be out given because He gave His only Son to save us all from a pending Hell. Brothers and sisters, it really does exist and I want no part of it. I am so thankful that Christmas as we know it was but a precursor for Easter. There is "Triumph Only Through Tragedy" it seems.

I have been doing quite a bit of traveling lately and I will be doing between 1500 and 2000 miles of local traveling in the next six weeks as I fulfill my annual duties as the local Marine Corps League Detachment Toys For Tots Chairman. While I travel I have a lot of time to think about life as I know it and I often wonder what life is like for those individuals who are traveling on a dead end road. My life is a journey and not a destination so my road of life never ends and, as I often told my kids when they were growing up, there seem to be no rest areas along it either. Now in case you think I am some how different from you, think again. Your road never ends either. Our Creator has endowed each of us with eternal life. Our task while we are here on earth is to locate the salvation road that leads to the top of the mountain (Heaven). You see a lot of roads go down the mountain but only one of those roads leads to the top. Jesus Christ said that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no man commeth to the Father but by Him. It is beneficial every now and then to glance down at your GPS (Gods Positioning System) and check out your 10-20. Read on to see if you are using the right maps to guarantee to get where you want to end up. You see it is easy to end up where no one in their right mind wants to end up, just get off the spiritual road and follow the world down the pathways of pleasure.

Why do we do what we do? Print E-mail

I don't know how many times I have heard that question uttered during my 38 years behind the badge. In fact I heard the same question asked, I don't know how many times, during my 30 plus years in the Marines as well. Most of the time it it was asked on the heels of someone completing a difficult or particularly arduous task and receiving the usual lack of enthusiastic appreciation. Sometimes this is a harbinger of even more devastating behavior. The next questions asked are usually framed so that the answers will increase our perceived contribution and our self-worth while minimizing the actions, dignity and efforts of others. If this sounds like a recipe for pride, it is! and remember what Proverbs says about what follows Pride. Have you ever wondered how this behavior overlaps into our "Christian witness"?
